BATTERY and/or TRACK POWER ESC’s FOR 2.4 GHz DIGITAL  PROPORTIONAL R/C WITH 4 OR MORE CHANNELS.  Jan 1st 2013

RCS  ESC's use low cost Park Flyer 2.4 Ghz R/C equipment.

We have tested and approve the following 2.4 GHz R/C systems for use with  RCS ESC's.

WHICH BRAND OF R/C TO CHOOSE.
THIS DOES DEPEND A BIT ON WHAT YOU INTEND TO DO WITH THE RADIO.
EACH BRAND HAS PLUS AND MINUS FEATURES.

CLICK HERE FOR FEATURES TO LOOK FOR.

Each locomotive will require one RX plus one ESC.

SPEKTRUM & PLANET RX's SIMPLY PLUG IN UPSIDE DOWN ON THE ESC.  SERVO LEADS NOT NEEDED.
HOBBY KING & E-SKY R/C CAN ALSO BE USED.  THEY MUST USE THE # SIG-ADAPT PCB TO CONNECT TO THE ESC.

Please note.  The Spektrum & Hobby King RX's can now be "bound" when plugged into the ESC.
This will make transferring helper locos from one TX to another much simpler.

RCS ESC's ARE DESIGNED FOR ADVANCED OPERATION
& ALL FEATURE:

    # OMEGA-3s uses SPEKTRUM DSM2 R/C. RX plugs into decoder pcb.  Servo leads not needed.
    ● # OMEGA-3u can use any brand of 2.4 GHz R/C.  All leads supplied.
EASY PLUG'n'PLAY or SCREW TERMINAL INSTALLATION.
    ●
The Plug'n'Play # RCS-PnP ESC runs on Track power and/or Battery power. 12  to 24 volts.

    ● Nothing extra to buy.  Simply plug parts together and start operating.
    ● There are 3 amp & 6 amp ESC's for use with track or battery power. 7.2 volts to 18 - 24 volts.
    ● Long range. From 200’ - 500’ with no “glitching” or loss of control functions.
    ● 256 step 90º direct linear
Digital Proportional control of loco speed. 36 clicks on stick.
    ● Positive selection of Direction with elevator Up-Down stick.
    ● Automatic “CRUISE CONTROL” Turn OFF TX & loco continues on.

    ● Control as many locos as you like from one TX.  One at a time or ganged together in an MU consist.
    ● Speed matching of dissimilar locos. Very easy set up to assist with loco MU’ing.
    ● MU capable.  Simply add as many speed matched locos as you wish to a consist.
    ● Simulated Brake Release & Brake Apply functions. User controlled variable momentum.
    ● 4 x Momentary or Latch ON - OFF accessory functions for sound triggers etc.
    ● Compatible with all non DCC sound systems
    ● Pushbutton on ESC orexternal on loco controls simplified programming via the TX.
    ● No complicated CV's to worry about.
    ● User applied system reset to default speed matching values.
    ● Reverse loco default start up direction for back to back locos during MU operation.
    ● Unlike some other systems, OFF on the throttle stick is OFF.  No voltage leakage.
    ● Directional constant brightness lighting outputs.
    ● BEC for RX means the RX does not need separate batteries.

Four channels of a 4 - 9 Channel R/C are required for operation.

WHAT THE TX LEVERS ACTUALLY DO.

The ELEVATOR stick controls Direction set with a press & release for forwards or reverse.   Variable momentum control allows precise application of Brake Apply & Brake Release.
The THROTTLE stick provides full throw Digital Proportional (DP) control of the locomotive speed. This gives twice the precision of speed control when compared to the centre off single stick DP controllers.
The AILERON stick & RUDDER stick each control 2 x Momentary or Latch ON-OFF accessory functions such as Whistle/Horn & Bell, Notch 8/Drift and Dynamic brake/Blowdown etc.  Total of four functions available.
Channel #'s 5 & 6 etc are free for added mechanical controls such as uncoupling.
Or, with an extra # RC-TRIG, 2 more sound triggers or Ditch Lighting effects.

(1) Linear Digital Proportional Speed Control.
(2) Also uses an analogue to digital converter, continuously rotating knob.
(3) Also uses an analogue to digital converter, continuously rotating thumbwheel.
(4) Can be used with constant voltage track power or batteries. with the addition of a bridge rectifier and adequate filtering capacitance.

The
RCS ESC’s have an LED on the decoder pcb & directional constant brightness lighting outputs.
When the loco & TX have been switched ON, these lights show that the TX and RX have recognised each other.
The lights are also used for speed calibrating and programming the system options.
BATTERY VOLTAGE:

All battery packs
state a NOMINAL voltage on the pack.
When freshly charged the actual voltage can exceed the NOMINALvoltage.
eg. An 18 volt Ni-Cd pack can read 24 volts when fully charged.

RCS  takes into account the excess voltage when batteries are freshly charged when listing what is the maximum voltage you can use.
Likewise the
NOMINAL voltage also takes into account the likely voltage drop when discharging.
It is
the NOMINALvoltage on the battery pack that is the maximum & minimum voltage you can use.

The pcb’s have appropriate heat sinking. A cooling fan may be required for use at higher voltages & temperatures.

NB. THE POWER RATINGS ARE BASED ON 15 VOLTS. HIGHER VOLTAGES MAY REQUIRE FAN COOLING.

SEE THE ACCESSORIES LIST FOR INFORMATION ON RCS LOCO INSTALLATION KITS & BATTERIES.

THE  RCS ONE YEAR GUARANTEE IS CONDITIONAL ON THE ESC BEING INSTALLED AS PER THE RCS INSTRUCTIONS.   DAMAGE CAUSED BY MISUSE WILL BE OBVIOUS TO US & IS NOT GUARANTEED.

IF YOU BLOW IT UP & TELL US HOW YOU DID IT, WE MAY WARRANT THE ITEM ANYWAY.

THE PWM OUTPUT OF THESE MOTOR DRIVERS SHOULD NOT BE USED WITH ANY DCC DECODER EQUIPPED LOCOS.

PLEASE NOTE.

RCS DOES NOT PROVIDE PRINTED INSTRUCTIONS FOR ESC'S UNLESS SPECIFICALLY ASKED TO DO SO.

PDF instruction booklets are available for the brand of R/C being used + FIVE  different sound systems.
